OUR STORY
We would like to start by telling you “thank you” for taking the time to check out our site, and read our story. Original Privateer was born from our passion and ways. It’s our call to the wild—honoring the free souls, the risk takers, the privateers. Original Privateer stands for a lifestyle that refuses to dwell in the common—a lifestyle dedicated to chasing dreams, and making them a part of reality.  We celebrate the raw minds of our fathers before us, and the innovations of generations to come.  We are the heart and soul of not only the motocross world, but of all risk takers, adventurers, and action-sport junkies.  Original Privateer is a movement, and we want you to be part of it.

I was born a motor head. There was no way around it. From races to garages, octane and oil. It was more like a way of life than a hobby. From the time I was still clad in diapers, my parents used to tote me from motocross race to motocross race to watch my dad. At home, he liked to work on motorcycles and cars. It wasn’t uncommon to have a garage full of bikes, from BSA’s to CZ’s, I saw them all. To this day my dad still has a 1972 CZ250 “Yellow Tanker,” that he’ll ride in vintage motocross races. I grew up in his footsteps, working on cars, riding motorcycles. I spent a lot of time riding in the mountains and racing moto alongside my dad. Further on down the road in my life, I bought a Harley  and traveled across the good fifty states on empty highways. Motorcycles were my passion, all types. Still are. This is not the end of the story, but rather the beginning… My wife, Judy, who grew up deep in roots of rodeo, has gained a newfound love for the world of bikes. This passion has spilled over into our children, who ride dirt bikes and dig racing. Each of them, from our 9 year old son, to our 18, 23, and 27 year old daughters live to go fast and roost some dirt.

My 18 year old daughter, Layne, grew up watching me work on bikes.  She began tagging along to races with me, and before long was tagging along to the practice track.  As she’s preparing for a new adventure at The University of Kansas (KU,) she mostly rides for the freedom that comes from good, pure fun, but that doesn’t stop her from going fast.  Our time at the track sparked an idea that spilled over into a father-daughter project.  We sought to create a business that not only offered inspiration and support, but a rugged creativity that would speak to the masses.  From that spark, Original Privateer was born, and it’s been fueled by blood, sweat and tears ever since.

Although our first love was moto, our family and our business both began to seek the thrill that ALL action-sports have to offer.  You can still find us at the track, but now we spend time skateboarding, wake surfing, snowboarding, or whatever else we’re given a shot at.  There’s more to these sports than thrill.  There’s freedom, endurance, and faith—freedom in the risk, endurance in the pain, and faith in accepting the challenge. There is wisdom to be gained. Embrace it. Have faith over fear. In life, you cannot win the race by following.

This is what we are made of.  These are the codes that guide us, and the passion that propels us. Thrill brings us together. Over the scream of our engines, we can leave the noises of life behind. We ride—we shred—we carve. We are Original Privateer.
